Did you know that people in Ohio who are homebound can get a state ID without leaving their home?

If you are homebound and need a new ID because yours is expired or have never had one, you can request a Homebound ID packet by calling 844-644-6268.  The packet will be mailed to you.  Verification is required and a field staff person will come to your home to take your photo.

You can also try the live chat option on their website or send an email  https://bmv.ohio.gov/about-contact.aspx  to request the packet.  Currently there is no information about it on the website, so you will need to specify that you need the Homebound ID packet.

If you have a current ID and are just looking to renew, then you can use their online option.  Online renewals are limited to U.S. citizens between the ages of 21 and 65 with a four-year ID  that was processed in person.  To renew an ID, you have to log in through the state’s OH|ID system bmvonline.dps.ohio.govThe process includes answering a few questions, uploading your current driver’s license or ID, or a photograph and a document from the BMV’s acceptable document list. Once approved, the new card will be mailed to you.
