      FAQ

      IS THERE AN AGE REQUIREMENT?
Yes. Volunteers must be at least 18.

WHERE DO YOU NEED VOLUNTEERS THE MOST?
Yard Assist is the program where volunteers are needed the most.  The services we provide are not professional.  All skill levels are welcome and typical volunteer time at each site is up to 2 hours.

      WHO PROVIDES THE TOOLS?
It is helpful to bring your own tools, however KeyStone can provide some tools for volunteers who do not have them on the day of the volunteer service.  Common manual tools include clippers, shears, rakes, loppers etc.  Volunteers are permitted to bring their own power tools but should review what they are ahead of time to ensure they are appropriate.

SAFETY FIRST  We ask that all volunteers be prepared to use PPE such as safety goggles, ear protection and other recommended gear specific to the tool being used and the activity.  OSHA provides guidance and helpful resources on the hazards of yard work and solutions. Click Here   Appropriate clothing based on the project and any tools being used is always important.  Volunteers are not permitted to use the homeowner’s tools because we do not know the tool and any potential safety issues it may have.

For handyperson projects, volunteers should have their own tools.
