HOME ORGANIZING IS A BROAD CATEGORY

It can be as simple as straightening out the kitchen cabinets and removing expired foods.  It can be clearing out a room that is no longer being occupied.  It can be much more complicated like sorting through years of memories or removing excessive clutter.  In some situations it can be a matter of health and safety.

No matter what it is you are trying to accomplish, ensuring that you are the decision maker is key to a successful outcome.  Our process begins with a conversation and an in home assessment.  There is no cost for the assessment and it gives us the opportunity to work together to develop a plan based on your specific needs, goals and budget.  Call us at 216-554-9592 or use the contact form below.

Here are some complex examples of supporting people with home organization:

MARY'S UNEXPECTED MOVE
Mary had been a roommate with Iris who was the homeowner.  While Mary had her own home, she had resided with Iris for some time.  Unfortunately, Iris had entered a nursing home and her home had to be sold, so Mary had to move back to her own home within a very short window of time.  This was quite challenging as both Iris’s home and Mary’s home were full of years worth of clutter.  Mary understood her predicament and was very open to having her belongings at Iris’s taken to a storage unit which we did.  We also spent a few days going through her memories and getting rid of items that she no longer needed or wanted.  The key here was was though we did have a hard deadline due to the nature of the situation, she was not rushed during the process when it came to sorting through her memories and was always treated with dignity and respect.

JOHN'S PATH TO THE KITCHEN
For some people they don’t always need a full house cleanout.  In this example, John was a person who acknowledged he was hoarding.  However, he didn’t ask for help to clean out his entire home.  He only asked for help to clean out a path to be able to navigate from the living room to the kitchen.  His home was so full that it became impossible to get the kitchen using his walker.  While the bigger issue was that he was living in these conditions, the goal was to focus on what he needed help with.  Lots of other great things came out of assisting John, but most important was that he was willing to ask for help
